MOON LANDING AND ENGLAND WIN WORLD CUP – ALL ON OUR150TH
Man landing on the moon and England winning the World Cup are just some of the landmark events to feature in a special anniversary timeline.
The significant moments have been recorded in the history section of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Sheffield FC’s our150th website
www.our150th.co.uk The timeline also features events from the worlds of business and football, linking together the 150th anniversaries of the Chamber and the world’s first football club.
Key moments in Sheffield’s history are also covered, including the opening of the Lyceum Theatre in 1897, the first motor cab appearing in the city in 1908 and the fortunes of professional football clubs Wednesday and United.
Helen Cupit, Marketing and Events Co-ordinator for the Chamber, said: “The 150th anniversary of the Chamber and Sheffield FC this year has given us an opportunity to look at the key moments which have taken place since 1857.
“All the national and international incidents have in someway played a role in the development of Sheffield, but it was also important for the timeline to feature events which took place in the city.
“We hope the timeline and the our150th.co.uk website will be interesting reading for many people.”
