150th ACE UP THEIR SLEEVE – CHAMBER ‘TRUMP’ETS CITY SUCCESS
When it comes to Sheffield city success, will Sheffield United score more highly or will Supertram derail the competition…?
Sheffield Chamber of Commerce kicks off celebrations for its 150th anniversary next year with the launch of a Sheffield Trump Cards game highlighting all that is great about the Sheffield City Region.
The special edition game, pitting steel against sport and music versus manufacturing, is a fun element of the commemorative memorabilia and celebrations marking the Chamber’s century-and-a-half milestone next year. It sees players vying for supremacy by comparing famous landmarks and places people want to visit such as the City Hall, Millennium Galleries and Weston Park Museum.
Containing 36 cards, the game boasts a cross section of city notables ranging from Sheffield Theatres and Meadowhall to the city’s two universities and football teams, all of which are ranked on criteria such as ‘wow factor’ and ‘uniqueness’.
Players must try to outplay their opponent on the chosen criteria which ranks the ever-thriving Sheffield music scene - with bands like Arctic Monkeys, the Human League and Pulp – with a wow factor of 99, beating sporting personalities such as cricketer Michael Vaughan and boxer Clinton Woods with their score of 88.
Overriding ‘Supercards’ – Sheffield Innovation, Sheffield Economy, Sheffield Culture and Sheffield Living - are shuffled into the pack, and beat all others with their top scores.
The Chamber’s 150th anniversary celebrations next year will highlight the heritage and innovation that has built the modern day Sheffield as well as looking forward to the next 15 years – a theme that has been carried over into the cards.
They showcase Sheffield and its region and are not only a must have for Sheffielders but are quickly becoming an essential corporate gift. In fact, packs have been taken this week by Chamber delegates on a trade mission to China and Hong Kong.
As a result, the Far East is starting to learn even more about some of the city’s best-loved exports such as Henderson’s Relish and Liquorice Allsorts which are featured in the pack.
Chamber events and marketing co-ordinator Helen Cupit said:
The Sheffield Trump Cards have also been launched at a time of renewed civic pride within the region so we are sure that these special cards will be popular with people who live and work in Sheffield. We will also make the cards available for companies who want to promote their home city to clients, trading partners or potential investors outside the region.
The cards have been produced to a high specification with a specially designed presentation box – the perfect gift – and of course, they have been Made in Sheffield !
The card packs have a retail price of £4.99 and can be ordered on-line from the Chamber Store at www.scci.org.uk or from the marketing team on 0114 2018888.
